Livestock safety index

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010591

A numerical indicator that assesses the risk of heat stress to livestock based on environmental conditions, primarily temperature and humidity. This index, often calculated using the Temperature-Humidity Index (THI), provides guidance for agricultural management to prevent animal welfare issues. Values above a certain threshold, such as 75 for cattle, indicate increasing stress levels.
