Quasi-stationary front
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-002210
A weather front that exhibits little or no movement over an extended period, typically remaining in the same general location for 12 hours or more. This occurs when the opposing forces acting on the front, such as steering winds, are nearly balanced. These fronts can produce prolonged periods of precipitation and cloudiness along their boundary.
A front which is nearly stationary or moves very little since the last synoptic position. Also known as a stationary front.
