Subterranean stream

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010792

A body of water flowing in a natural underground channel, such as through a cave system or within porous rock strata. These streams are a component of the hydrological cycle, fed by precipitation that infiltrates the ground and eventually discharging into surface water bodies or other aquifers. Their flow rates are influenced by seasonal rainfall and snowmelt, connecting surface weather patterns to groundwater systems.
