WSR-88D

A network of Doppler weather radars operated by the National Weather Service, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Department of Defense in the United States. This system detects precipitation, measures its intensity, and determines the velocity of atmospheric motion toward or away from the radar. The WSR-88D provides data for severe weather warnings, aviation safety, and hydrological forecasting.
