Phenotype

  1. The physical, biochemical, and behavioral traits that can be observed in a person. Some examples of a person’s phenotype are height, eye color, hair color, blood type, behavior, and the presence of certain diseases. A phenotype is based on a person’s genes and some environmental factors, such as diet, exercise, and smoking.

  2. The observable characteristics or traits in an individual based on the expression of their genes. The phenotype is determined by the individual's genotype and possibly influenced by other factors, such as environmental factors or other genetic modifiers.
