stage IIA non-small cell lung cancer

Stage II non-small cell lung cancer is divided into stages IIA and IIB. In stage IIA, the tumor is not larger than 3 centimeters and cancer has spread to lymph nodes on the same side of the chest as the primary tumor; OR the tumor is larger than 4 centimeters but not larger than 5 centimeters. Cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes and one or more of the following may be found: (1) cancer has spread to the main bronchus, but has not spread to the carina; and/or (2) cancer has spread to the innermost layer of the membrane that covers the lung; and/or (3) cancer has spread to a lobe next to the lobe with the primary tumor; and/or (4) part of the lung or the whole lung has collapsed or has developed pneumonitis.
