Trichilemmoma

  1. A benign (not cancer) tumor that begins in the outer cells of a hair follicle and appears as a small, smooth, skin-colored, wart-like or dome-shaped lesion. Trichilemmomas usually occur on the face, ears, and neck but can also occur on the lower part of the arm and the hands. They tend to grow slowly over time and often occur with other skin lesions. Trichilemmomas may be found in people with a rare, inherited condition called Cowden syndrome.
