Class I railroad

A carrier that has an annual operating revenue of $250 million or more after applying the railroad revenue deflator formula, which is based on the Railroad Freight Price Index developed by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. The formula is the current year's revenues x 1991 average index/current year's average index.
