Assessor

A person assigned by an accreditation body to judge the competence of a laboratory, working alone or within an assessment team, who brings relevant professional expertise and experience to the task. The assessor weighs evidence on whether requirements such as those of ISO/IEC 17025 are met. The work is called assessment and is sometimes described as peer review.
