Reference laboratory

A laboratory whose work rests on a reference measurement or examination procedure, or which carries out calibrations. Its results serve as the comparison point for judging the trueness of routine methods and for assigning values to calibrators and reference materials. In laboratory medicine such a laboratory is called a reference measurement laboratory and is specified in ISO 15195.
