Commutability of a reference material

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012987

The ability of a reference material to behave similarly to routine clinical samples when measured by different analytical methods. This property indicates that the relationship between the results obtained for the reference material by two measurement procedures is equivalent to the relationship between the results obtained for routine samples. A commutable reference material is suitable for validating the accuracy of a measurement procedure across different methods.
