A software licensing model where the program is fully functional and may be freely copied and distributed, but the author requests a payment to support continued development. The user is under no legal or technical obligation to pay, making it a form of freeware. Unlike shareware, which has limited features or a trial period, donationware provides the complete software upfront without restriction.
