A collection of pre-compiled routines, functions, classes, and resources that a program uses to perform specific operations. By providing reusable code for common tasks, libraries save development time and promote modularity in software design. A static library is merged with the main program during compilation, whereas a dynamic-link library (.dll) is loaded by the operating system at runtime.
