MP3
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000779
A digital audio encoding format that uses a form of lossy data compression to reduce file size. The compression algorithm discards audio information that is beyond the hearing range of most people, a method known as perceptual coding. An MP3 file encoded at a bitrate of 128 kilobits per second will have a file size approximately one-eleventh that of the original CD audio track from which it was created.
