PostScript
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000935
A page description language and programming language for creating vector graphics and typesetting. Developed by Adobe Systems, it communicates a document's layout and content to a printer or other output device in a device-independent manner. PostScript files, with extensions like .ps or .eps (Encapsulated PostScript), contain code that an interpreter on the output device executes to render the page; its successor, the Portable Document Format (PDF), is now more common for document exchange.
