A file listing the URLs for a website, providing metadata about each URL such as its last update time, change frequency, and priority. Search engines read this file to crawl the site more intelligently, discovering pages that might otherwise be missed by standard crawling methods. Sitemaps are formatted in XML (Extensible Markup Language) and are limited to 50,000 URLs and a file size of 50 megabytes.
