A linear data structure that follows the Last-In, First-Out (LIFO) principle, where the last element added is the first one to be removed. Operations are performed at one end, called the top, with the primary actions being 'push' to add an element and 'pop' to remove one. Stacks are used in compilers for parsing expressions and in operating systems for managing function calls.
