Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003579
To combine multiple seismic traces recorded at different source-receiver offsets but sharing a common midpoint, enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio. This process averages the amplitudes of the traces, reinforcing coherent reflections and attenuating random noise. Stacking is a fundamental step in seismic data processing, typically performed after normal moveout correction.
