Semblance
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003331
A measure of the similarity or coherence between multiple seismic traces, often used in velocity analysis to determine the optimal stacking velocity. It quantifies how well events align across a gather after applying a normal moveout correction. High semblance values indicate a coherent reflection and a correct velocity function.
