Crosscorrelation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000898
A mathematical operation that quantifies the similarity between two signals as a function of the time offset applied to one of them. In seismic data analysis, it is used to align traces, detect repeating patterns, or estimate time delays for velocity analysis. The output is a crosscorrelation function, with a peak indicating the optimal lag.
