AVOAZ
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000228
An abbreviation for Amplitude Variation with Offset and Azimuth, which describes the change in seismic reflection amplitude as a function of both the source-receiver offset and the azimuth, or direction, relative to the subsurface. This technique is used to detect and characterize fractured reservoirs and anisotropic rock formations. AVOAZ analysis provides insights into fracture orientation and density.
