Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000223

An abbreviation for Amplitude Variation with Angle, which describes the change in the amplitude of a seismic reflection as a function of the angle of incidence. This phenomenon is sensitive to the elastic properties of the rock layers, particularly the P-wave and S-wave velocities and density. AVA analysis is used to detect and characterize hydrocarbon reservoirs.
