Angle of incidence

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000118

The angle between an incoming seismic ray and the normal to the reflecting or refracting interface. According to Snell's Law, this angle is related to the angle of reflection and refraction, as well as the velocities of the media. It is a fundamental parameter in seismic ray tracing and modeling.
