Ray tracing

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004432

A modeling technique that simulates the propagation of seismic energy through a subsurface medium by tracking the paths of individual rays. It calculates travel times and amplitudes along these paths, which are then used to predict seismic responses. This method is applied in seismic inversion and migration to understand complex geological structures.
