Least-time path
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002149
The trajectory taken by a seismic wave traveling between two points in a medium, following Fermat's Principle. This path represents the route that requires the minimum travel time, considering variations in seismic velocity within the subsurface. Ray tracing algorithms often calculate these paths to model wave propagation and interpret seismic data.
