Advective transport modeling
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000064
A simulation technique that calculates the movement of fluids or dissolved substances through a porous medium driven by the bulk motion of the flowing fluid. In reservoir engineering, it models the displacement of oil by injected water or gas, tracking the movement of the flood front. This type of model focuses on the velocity-driven component of flow, distinct from diffusive or dispersive transport, which involves molecular or mechanical mixing.
