Random-walk method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003045
A simulation technique used to model fluid flow or particle transport through a porous medium by tracking the stochastic movement of individual particles. Each particle's path is determined by a series of random steps, reflecting the tortuous nature of pore networks. This method is applied in reservoir engineering to understand dispersion and mixing processes, particularly in heterogeneous reservoirs.
