Diffusion equation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001081
A partial differential equation that describes the movement of substances or properties, such as heat, mass, or fluid pressure, through a medium due to random molecular motion. In reservoir engineering, it models the flow of fluids through porous media, predicting pressure changes and fluid distribution over time. The equation's solution depends on parameters like diffusivity and boundary conditions.
