Saturation equation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003260
A mathematical formula used to calculate the water saturation (Sw) or hydrocarbon saturation (Sh) of a reservoir rock from logging measurements. These equations relate formation resistivity, porosity, and fluid resistivity to the volume of water in the pore space. The Archie equation is a widely used example, requiring parameters such as cementation exponent and saturation exponent.
