Resistivity index
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003129
The ratio of the resistivity of a rock saturated with both water and hydrocarbons to the resistivity of the same rock fully saturated with water. This dimensionless index is used in the Archie equation to calculate water saturation. It quantifies the increase in resistivity caused by the presence of hydrocarbons in the pore space.
