Hydrogen index
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001911
A measure of the concentration of hydrogen atoms per unit volume in a formation, relative to the concentration of hydrogen in pure water at standard conditions. It is a key parameter derived from neutron logging tools, as neutrons primarily interact with hydrogen nuclei. The hydrogen index is directly related to the fluid-filled porosity of the rock.
