Neutron porosity

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002536

The porosity derived from a neutron log, which is a measure of the hydrogen content in the formation. In clean, liquid-filled formations, neutron porosity directly reflects the pore volume. However, in gas-bearing zones or shaly formations, corrections are necessary due to the lower hydrogen density of gas or the hydrogen in clay minerals.
