Slowing-down length
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003459
The average distance a fast neutron travels in a formation before it is slowed down to epithermal energies. This parameter is influenced by the hydrogen content of the rock, as hydrogen atoms are highly effective at slowing down neutrons. It is a key factor in the design and interpretation of neutron porosity logging tools.
