Neutron log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002535
A porosity logging tool that measures the hydrogen index of the formation, which is directly related to its porosity. It emits high-energy neutrons and detects the scattered or captured neutrons, with the count rate inversely proportional to the hydrogen concentration. Neutron logs are commonly used in conjunction with density logs to determine lithology and porosity.
