Neutron interactions

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002534

The processes by which neutrons emitted from a logging tool lose energy or are absorbed as they pass through subsurface formations. These interactions include elastic scattering, inelastic scattering, and neutron capture, each providing information about the rock matrix and fluid properties. The rate and type of interactions are measured to determine porosity and lithology.
