Gamma ray interactions
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001606
The physical processes by which high-energy photons (gamma rays) lose energy as they pass through matter in a formation. These interactions include the photoelectric effect, Compton scattering, and pair production. The type and extent of interaction depend on the gamma ray energy and the atomic number and density of the rock and fluid constituents.
