Pair production
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002684
The creation of an electron and a positron from a high-energy photon interacting with the electromagnetic field of an atomic nucleus. This process occurs when the photon's energy exceeds the combined rest mass energy of the electron and positron, which is 1.022 MeV. It is a key interaction in gamma ray spectroscopy and high-energy nuclear logging tools.
