Induced gamma ray spectroscopy
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001966
A nuclear logging technique that measures the energy spectrum of gamma rays emitted by atomic nuclei in the formation after being excited by neutron bombardment. These gamma rays are characteristic of specific elements, allowing for the determination of elemental concentrations such as silicon, calcium, iron, and chlorine. This method is used to identify lithology, mineralogy, and fluid types.
