Elemental capture spectroscopy
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001286
A nuclear logging technique that measures the gamma rays emitted by formation elements after they capture thermal neutrons. This method provides a quantitative analysis of the elemental composition of rocks, including concentrations of silicon, calcium, iron, and chlorine. The data is used to determine lithology, porosity, and fluid saturation, particularly in complex mineralogies.
