Sigma
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003404
The macroscopic thermal neutron capture cross-section of a formation, representing its ability to absorb thermal neutrons. It is measured in capture units (cu) or sigma units and is primarily influenced by the presence of chlorine in formation water. A higher sigma value generally indicates increased water saturation in the reservoir rock.
