Thermal diffusion length
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003804
The average distance a thermal neutron travels in a medium before being captured by an atomic nucleus. This parameter is inversely related to the macroscopic thermal neutron capture cross-section of the formation. It is a key factor in the design and interpretation of pulsed neutron logging tools.
