Chemical neutron source
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000650
A radioactive material, typically Americium-Beryllium (Am-Be) or Plutonium-Beryllium (Pu-Be), that continuously emits high-energy neutrons. These sources are used in neutron porosity logging tools to bombard the formation and measure the hydrogen index, which is related to porosity. They are passive sources, unlike pulsed neutron generators.
