Neutron generator
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002533
A downhole tool component that produces high-energy neutrons for porosity and mineralogy logging without using a chemical radioactive source. It operates by accelerating deuterium and tritium ions into a target, causing a fusion reaction that releases neutrons. These generators can be switched on and off for safety and emit neutrons with a discrete energy of 14.1 megaelectronvolts (MeV).
