Accelerator source
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000019
A device used in pulsed neutron logging tools that generates high-energy neutrons by accelerating charged particles, typically deuterons, into a target material. These neutrons interact with formation nuclei, producing gamma rays that are detected to determine reservoir properties. Accelerator sources provide a controlled and repeatable neutron output, unlike chemical sources.
