Photoelectric effect
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002777
An interaction where a photon transfers all its energy to an atomic electron, causing the electron to be ejected from the atom. This effect is dominant at low gamma ray energies and is highly dependent on the atomic number of the formation. It forms the basis for the photoelectric factor (PEF) measurement in density logging.
