Rate-dependent skin effect
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003050
A component of the skin factor that changes with the flow rate of fluids into the wellbore. This effect is often caused by non-Darcy flow (turbulent flow) near the wellbore, especially in gas wells, or by changes in fluid properties with flow rate. It indicates that the wellbore damage or stimulation is not constant but varies with production intensity.
