Joule-Thomson
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002077
A thermodynamic effect describing the temperature change of a real gas or liquid when it expands adiabatically through a valve or porous plug. In production logging, this effect can cause cooling in the wellbore as fluids flow from high-pressure to low-pressure zones. It is a factor in interpreting temperature logs, especially across perforations.
