Kinetic effect
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002102
The part of the pressure difference read by a gradiomanometer that comes from fluid acceleration, as where fluid enters through perforations or the flow area changes, rather than from the weight of the fluid column. It adds to the friction effect and the well deviation effect, so the apparent density departs from the true density. Gradiomanometer interpretation applies separate corrections for friction, kinetic effect and deviation.
