Deviation

The angle or direction by which a wellbore departs from a vertical path, often measured from the vertical axis. Deviated wells are drilled to reach targets that are not directly beneath the rig, such as offshore reservoirs or multiple targets from a single pad. The deviation is continuously monitored and recorded during drilling operations.
