True vertical depth

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003927

The vertical distance from a reference point, usually the rotary kelly bushing (RKB) at the surface, to a point in the wellbore. This measurement accounts for any deviation or inclination of the well path. True vertical depth is used for reservoir calculations and to determine hydrostatic pressure.
